Announcing the New NWSOC Online Community

A Return to Our Grassroots

Greetings, Saab enthusiasts of the Pacific Northwest! We have some exciting news to share with all of you. As you know, our beloved Northwest Saab Owners Club (NWSOC) has been around for more than 30 years, and we've seen a lot of changes in the automotive community during that time. Most notably, the rise of social media platforms like Facebook has transformed the way car events are organized and how we interact with each other.

But now, as Facebook is on the decline and new communities are emerging outside of the social media giant, we're witnessing a return to grassroots online communities. We're thrilled to announce that our club's website, nwsaab.com, has added a new online community using the Mighty Networks platform! This addition will allow Saab fans to keep in touch, organize events, and be active in their local club, while at the same time allowing them to back away from social media (and helping to separate the club from a de-facto reliance on Facebook).

In this blog post, we'll share some insights from key members of our club, including Quinn (our webmaster), Jon (our club president), and Caleb (our event coordinator). Let's dive in!

Quinn, the NWSOC webmaster, said the decision to create an online community on the Mighty Networks platform was motivated by the desire to provide a better experience for Saab fans in the Pacific Northwest. "We noticed that many of our members were growing increasingly frustrated with the limitations and distractions of social media. With our new online community, we aim to create a space where our members can focus on their passion for Saab cars, engage in meaningful discussions, and organize events without the noise and clutter of Facebook."

Our club president, Jon, echoed Quinn's sentiments and emphasized the importance of preserving the club's unique identity. "The Northwest Saab Owners Club has always been about building connections between Saab enthusiasts and fostering a sense of camaraderie. With the new online community, we can ensure that our club's values and traditions are maintained, while also adapting to the changing landscape of online interaction."

Caleb, NWSOC’s amazing event coordinator, is particularly excited about the potential for event organization and community engagement through the Mighty Networks platform. "We've noticed that using social media platforms like Facebook for event organization can be challenging and limiting. With our new online community, we'll have a centralized hub for all event information, making it easier for everyone to stay informed and get involved. Whether you're a seasoned member or new to the club, you'll be able to find all the details you need to participate and connect with fellow Saab enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest. We're excited to see the community come together on this new platform!"

Benefits of the New Online Community:

  • A dedicated space for Saab enthusiasts: The new online community will be a haven for Saab fans, where they can discuss their favorite cars, ask questions, share tips, and connect with like-minded individuals.

  • Enhanced event organization: With a centralized platform for events, our event coordinator and club members can easily share information, RSVP, and discuss upcoming gatherings.

  • Less reliance on social media: By moving away from Facebook, we can provide a more focused and distraction-free environment for our members to engage with one another.

  • Preservation of the NWSOC identity: The Mighty Networks platform allows us to maintain the unique character and values of our club, while adapting to the evolving landscape of online interaction.

Getting started with the new online community is easy. Just head over to our website, nwsaab.com, and click on the "ONLINE COMMUNITY" tab at the top of the page. You'll be redirected to our Mighty Networks community page, where you can sign up for an account or log in if you already have one. Once you're in, you'll be able to see all the discussions, events, and resources available to our members.

We've set up the community to be as user-friendly as possible, with various discussion groups and forums that cater to different interests. For example, we have a group dedicated to technical discussions where you can ask for help with any issues you might be having with your Saab. We also have groups for general Saab discussions, classifieds, and events, where you can find information on upcoming meets, drives, and rallies.

Our goal with this online community is to offer a platform where Saab enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest can connect, share knowledge and experiences, and stay up to date with everything happening in the club. We believe that this platform will be a great resource for all our members, and we encourage everyone to sign up and join the conversation.
